do you have both first name and surname populated in your gmail account? This was the issue for me - I was only using a first name. Surname was NULL.

I figured it out. I basically had to remove the 24 hour password check box in the profile section all the way in the bottom.

I was able to change it inside the Playground: Settings --> Personal Information under Details and I changed the Email. I kept trying to do it from Trailhead, which wasn't working.
