はじめに
AIXではNetwork Installation Manegement (NIM) により、OSおよびオプションのソフトウェアのインストールを管理できます。
本記事は、NIMを用いてOS (AIX)を新規導入するために、NIMマスター設定した際の作業メモです。
NIMマスターからAIXをネットワーク経由でインストール可能になるまでの設定しました。
「AIX 7.3導入手順」ではDVDメディアからAIXをインストールする手順を試しています。
実施環境
NIMマスター
ホスト名：nimmaster
OS：AIX 7.3 TL2 SP2
IPアドレス：192.168.m.m
NIMクライアント
ホスト名：nimclient
OS：AIX 7.3 TL2 SP2
IPアドレス：192.168.c.c
実施内容
- NIMマスターの構成
- NIMマスター上にlpp_sourceの作成
- NIMマスター上にspotの作成
- NIMマスターにNIMクライアントの登録
- NIMクライアントに対してlpp_sourceとspotの登録
- NIMクライアントをSMSモードで起動し、ネットワークブート
NIMマスターの構成
AIXをインストールしたNIMマスター用のLPAR(nimmaster)を作成した状態から作業を開始しました。
nimmasterにはOSをインストールする際に「bos.sysmgt.nim.master」ファイルセットをインストールしています。
lslppコマンドを見ると、ソフトウェア・プロダクトがインストールされていることが確認できました。

nimmasterをNIMマスターとして設定しました。
lpp_sourceやspotなどのNIMリソースは、以降で作成したので、mk_resource=noとしました。

NIMマスターの設定が完了しました。
/etc/niminfoからも、nimmasterがNIMマスターに設定されたことが確認できました。

補足
- Resource Name：作成するlpp_sourceの名前
- Location of Resource：作成したlpp_sourceを配置するディレクトリー
- Source of Install Image：lpp_sourceを作成するために使用したisoファイル
指定したディレクトリーにリソースが作成され、lpp_sourceが登録されたことも確認できました。

補足
- Resource Name：作成するspotの名前
- Source of Install Images：spotを作成するためのリソース(今回は作成したlpp_source)
- Location of Resource：spotを配置するディレクトリー
指定したディレクトリーにリソースが作成され、spotが登録されたことも確認できました。

NIMマスターにNIMクライアントの登録
/etc/hostsにnimclientを登録して、名前解決できるようにしました。

→rteを選択(インストール・イメージからインストールするため)

その後は、「AIX 7.3導入手順」の「5. システムコンソールおよび使用言語の定義」以降と同様な操作を行いました。
