PowerVSでストレージコントローラーの新モデルへの更新
IBM CloudのいくつかのDCでPowerVS用の外部ストレージ・コントローラーが新モデルへ更新中です。
必ずしも、すべてのDCで更新されるわけではありません。TOK04は更新対象ですが、OSA21は今のところ更新対象外でした。PowerVSが、そのDCで利用可能になった時期もよるのでしょう。
TOK04でも、すべてのインスタンスが対象ではありません。利用しているストレージ・プールに依存しているのだと思います。
IBM i への影響－スナップショットが無ければ、メッセージが出るだけ
IBM i の場合、移行作業の影響は大きくありません。
スナップショットが無ければ、移行時にマルチパス構成の一部のパスが切断されたというメッセージがQSYSOPRに出るだけです。業務影響はありません。
ただ、メッセージに対して「障害かも」とあわてないように、移行スケジュールを認識しておいた方がいいでしょう。
手順はこちらです。
- 2026-09-18までに通知/Notificationで移行対象か確認する
- 移行対象の場合、IBM CloudからオープンされるCaseで移行スケジュールを確認する
- スナップショットがあれば事前に削除しておく
- 移行時に出るQSYSOPRへのメッセージにあわてない
- 移行前のパスの情報がシステムから完全に除去されてはいないので、気になるのであれば、IPL後にSSTから除去する
自分のTOK04のインスタンスは対象か? 2026-09-18までに確認を
ご利用中のTOK04のPowerVSが移行対象になっている場合2026年8月20日に「PowerVS TOK04: Your storage is migrating to a newer model」という通知/Notificationが届いています。
下記のURLで確認してください。
2026年9月18日までに確認してください
通知/Notificationは30日間しか保持されません。それを過ぎるとポータル上で見られなくなります
通知/Notificationが届いていれば、ストレージ・コントローラーの新モデルへの更新の影響を受けるストレージを持っています。

Dear valued customer,As part of IBM Power Virtual Server’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the cloud customer experience, IBM will be upgrading storage controllers in your data center to a newer model. New provisioning of resources will be redirected to the new storage platform.
IBM will manage the migration of all volumes currently hosted on the legacy storage controllers that are reaching end of life as part of this upgrade.
All customer data migrations will be completed by December 15, 2026, enabling the full retirement of the hardware by the end of year.
Additional details, including timing and any required actions, will be shared before your scheduled window. Your participation is required in order to ensure the volume migration is completed with minimal impact. If we do not receive a response, the migration will move forward as scheduled, and your VM may be restarted if needed to complete the process.
Please be sure you check your notification settings in the cloud portal so you can be up to date with cloud announcements, maintenance notifications and case updates.

移行対象ならCaseを確認
移行対象の場合、個別にCaseでスケジュールが通知されます。
IBM Cloud側からオープンされたCaseを確認してください。
すべてのステータスのCaseを確認してください
Caseを放置すると7日で自動クローズされます
すでに今回用のCaseを放置し自動クローズされている場合がありました
現在Caseが確認できない場合でも、継続して確認してください
アカウント毎に移行日時が異なります
Case通知はアカウント毎に随時行われるため、まだCaseを受け取っていないアカウントも存在します
Caseの内容
移行が計画されると下記のようなCaseがIBM Cloudからオープンされます。
まずは、下記を確認しましょう。
- 移行日と実施ウィンドウ
- 対象のインスタンス
実施ウィンドウは、作業の開始予定時間と完了予定時間です。その期間のどこかで実際の移行が行われます。

事前準備/Pre-Migration Setup
事前準備/Pre-Migration Setupとしていくつかガイドされています。
path rescan (IBM iでは不要)
Please review the attached document. The preferred method is to set up automatic path rescan
on your VM. This will provide the most seamless migration experience. If you do not set up
automatic path rescan then you must be available during your migration window.
「path rescan」のために、添付文書を確認するようにガイドされています。
添付文書は「添付ファイル」にグレーアウトした状態で添付されています。見落としがちなので、ご注意ください。
クリックするとPDFがダウンロードされます。
添付文書にはIBM iについては、下記が記載されています。つまりIBM iで使っている場合は「path rescan」などは不要です。
IBMi comes prepared for volume migration. No setup is required. Post migration on the next VM reboot the load source needs to be setup again.
AIX/Linuxの場合、下記の実施と確認が必要です
- path rescan (auto path rescanの構成が望ましい)
- bootlistの更新
- 障害になったpathの除去
スナップショットの事前削除
Case内で下記の様にスナップショットを事前に削除するようにガイドされています。
If any volume has snapshots configured, they must be deleted prior to the migration.
スナップショットがあるかは、ワークスペース選択後、下記で確認できます。
あれば、削除してください。
OSがサポート要件を満たしていない場合は事前にシャットダウン
OSがサポート要件を満たしていない場合は事前にシャットダウンするようにガイドされています。

最後に
繰り返しになりますが、スナップショットが無ければ、移行時にマルチパス構成の一部のパスが切断されたというメッセージがQSYSOPRに出るだけです。業務影響はありません。
あわてないで対応してください。
