考察

Power FETなど 内部ON抵抗が少なく 放熱フィンが、無くても動作可能です。 
しかし 過電流時 熱暴走し 急激に温度上昇し、最悪素子破損します。 
これを防ぐために 温度センサーで 保護回路を作るのが 良いと思われます
Panasonicも Helvar社も 両製品 温度監視帰還保護回路制御しています。

突入電流での素子保護のために低抵抗で素子保護して用です。
