入力モードにいるときに<Ctrl-r>=3*15<CR>と入力してみてください。（Ctrlとrを同時押ししたあとに=を入力。その後の数字も順に入力。CRはEnterのことです。）
上記例では3 * 15の結果がテキスト中に入力されると思います。
四則演算や余り計算ができますので、簡単な計算だけならVimで済んでしまいますね！！
