大雑把に。

$ dd bs=1M count=100 if=/dev/zero of=/home/ore/disktest oflag=direct
100+0 records in
100+0 records out
104857600 bytes (105 MB) copied, 0.06987 seconds, 1.5 GB/s

上記の場合、NUL(0x00)で埋められた1MBのデータを100回 /home/ore/disktest に書き込む。最後の "1.5 GB/s" がその結果の転送速度なので、たとえば複数のマシンで速度を比較したいときはこれを見るといいでしょう。
