How to Roll Farming Rewards Into a Pool Token

Swap farming rewards into the token your pool needs, then add liquidity again. First check what the farm accepts: a single token, two pool tokens, or an LP token, which represents your share of a token pair.

What does the farm need you to deposit?

Check the farm’s deposit page before swapping rewards. A single-token vault may accept one asset, while a V2 farm usually accepts an LP token made from two tokens in a pool.

For a V2 pair such as ABC/USDC, the farm needs the pair’s LP token—not ABC or USDC alone. You must hold both tokens in the right value ratio to make that LP token. QuickSwap can swap a reward into one side of the pair, so you can then build the LP token the farm accepts. QuickSwap farm rules describe which deposits each farm supports.

How do you consolidate and redeposit rewards?

Use these steps for a V2 pair farm. If your farm accepts one token directly, skip the liquidity steps and deposit that token instead.

  1. Check the farm’s deposit asset and network. Open the farm you use and note its pair, chain, and accepted deposit. A token with the same name on another network is a different asset.
  2. Claim your rewards to your wallet. Claim each reward token and leave enough of the network’s gas token to pay for transactions. Gas is the network fee for processing each action.
  3. Choose what to consolidate. If ABC/USDC is the pair, swap rewards into ABC, USDC, or a mix. Compare the value of each side with the pair’s current ratio; a 50/50 value split is a useful starting estimate, not a fixed rule.
  4. Swap the amount you need. Review the quote, minimum received, and price impact before confirming. Price impact is how much your trade moves the quoted price. For example, a USDC reward may need little or no swapping, while a separate reward token may need one or more trades.
  5. Add both pair tokens as liquidity. Use the pool’s add-liquidity screen, which shows the amounts needed at the current ratio. You receive LP tokens in return; a small leftover balance can be normal if prices shift before the transaction completes. V2 pool mechanics explain the two-token deposit.
  6. Deposit the LP tokens into the farm. Approve the token first if your wallet requests it, then confirm the deposit. Approval lets the farm contract use that token; check the token and contract shown in your wallet.

What should you check before repeating the process?

Compare the value of expected rewards with swap fees, liquidity fees, gas, and any withdrawal cost. A small claim may not cover several transactions. I would wait until rewards justify the costs, especially when the claim, swap, liquidity addition, and farm deposit each need separate confirmation.

Before repeating, confirm that the farm still accepts the same LP token and that your wallet is on the right network. If you use a V3 position, its price range and deposit rules differ from V2; do not assume the same two-token steps apply.

Can I deposit a reward token straight into a V2 farm?

Usually not. A V2 farm generally accepts the LP token for its pair, and you create that token by adding both pool assets as liquidity. Check the farm’s deposit screen first, since each farm determines what it accepts.

Do I need to swap every reward into one token?

No. For a pair farm, you need both pool tokens in the required value ratio. If rewards already include one side, keep the amount you need and swap only the shortfall. For a single-token vault, follow its stated deposit asset.

Why is my added liquidity leaving tokens behind?

The pool’s token ratio can change between your quote and confirmation. The liquidity screen uses the current ratio, so it may use less of one asset than you hold. Review the final amounts before confirming, and avoid raising slippage tolerance without understanding the trade-off.

When should I compound the rewards?

Compound when the likely added value is worth the claim, swap, liquidity, and deposit costs. A USDC reward for a USDC pair may need fewer swaps than an unrelated reward token. Ask yourself: after fees and gas, is this reward large enough to put back to work?
