Noto Sans JapaneseのThin-Windowsって？

Noto Sans JapaneseとSource Han Sans JPのどっちを使おうかなと思いながら両方ダウンロードしてみた。

各ウェイトの名前が違うのはともかく、Thin-Windowsって何？

Add Windows-specific versions of Noto CJK Thin fonts.

This is to work around a but in Windows that automatically applies fake bolding to fonts with a usWeight lower than 250. See for example http://typophile.com/node/103397.

Thin(ExtraLight)のウェイトは100なので、Windows版にウェイトを変更したものを用意したと。

    font['OS/2'].usWeightClass = 250

フォント名・ウェイト名はThinのままなので、OSの違いで問題になることはなさそう。

Source Han Sans JP側のGithubにはこれに関するIssueは上がっていないものの、Adobeの開発者向けページにこの問題に関する記述は発見。
