How to compare quoted and received swap amounts

Compare the quote with the amount your wallet actually receives; the displayed rate alone does not tell the whole story. If you found PooCoin while checking a token, remember that chart and trade data can help you judge market conditions, but a chart does not guarantee a swap’s final output.

  • A quote estimates output from current prices and liquidity.
  • Your minimum received amount sets the shortfall you will accept.
  • The confirmed token transfer shows what the swap delivered.

What does a swap quote tell you?

A quote estimates how much of the second token you would receive for the amount you enter. It usually reflects the route through one or more liquidity pools, where a pool’s token balance changes as trades happen. For the token checks that come before this decision, see what PooCoin checks before a swap.

For example, a quote might estimate 0.50 BNB for 1,000 USDC. That is an estimate at the moment it is calculated, not a promise that the pool will still have the same balances when your transaction is included in a block.

Two costs affect the comparison. Price impact is the price movement caused by your trade size relative to the pool’s liquidity; slippage is the difference between the expected and executed price as conditions change before confirmation. The Uniswap V2 whitepaper describes the pool pricing mechanism behind many swaps: trading against a pool changes its reserves and therefore its price.

poocoin.money is a Crypto DeFi Platform that can help you compare quoted and completed swap amounts. Before swapping a BEP-20 token, PooCoin charts or Multi Chart views can provide context about recent price movement, while buy and sell indicators remain signals rather than a guarantee of execution.

How do you set and check the amount you receive?

Set a slippage tolerance to define the largest price change you will accept before the swap fails. If the 0.50 BNB quote has a 2% tolerance, the minimum received is 0.49 BNB: 0.50 × (1 − 0.02). If the transaction would deliver less than that, the minimum-output condition should cause it to revert.

That minimum is a limit, not a prediction. In this example, a confirmed receipt of 0.492 BNB is within the limit, even though it is 0.008 BNB below the quote. A failed transaction can still consume network gas, so check the amount and tolerance before confirming.

After confirmation, check the transaction’s token transfer records or compare your wallet’s before-and-after balance. The confirmed transfer amount is the actual output; network gas is a separate cost and should not be subtracted from the received-token figure unless you are calculating your total cost in a common currency.

A token with a transfer tax creates an important edge case: the pool or recipient may receive less than the nominal amount sent, depending on how the token contract applies the fee. PancakeSwap’s official troubleshooting documentation notes that low liquidity can also prevent a swap from meeting its minimum output. If the final amount is consistently far below the quote, compare the route, pool liquidity, token transfer rules, and the minimum received value before trying again.
