Adjusting Image Colors with Adjustment Layers in Photoshop CS6 Portable

Posted at

When working with photos, colors and lighting are not always perfect. In Photoshop CS6 Portable, one of the most powerful non-destructive tools is Adjustment Layers. They allow you to correct tones, brightness, and contrast without touching the original image, making it safe and flexible for repeated edits.

✨ Why use Adjustment Layers?

Non-destructive editing (original image remains untouched).

Easy to experiment with different looks.

Can be applied to specific layers or the whole project.

🛠️ How to use Adjustment Layers

Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer.

Select the type of adjustment you need:

Brightness/Contrast → Adjust overall light and contrast.

Hue/Saturation → Change or boost colors.

Color Balance → Balance color tones (e.g., fix yellowish skin tones).

Curves → Fine-tune highlights, midtones, and shadows.

Drag the sliders until you achieve the desired effect.

📌 Practical Example

If a product photo looks too yellow, add a Color Balance adjustment layer and shift the slider slightly towards blue. The image will look more neutral and professional instantly.
