Introduction
In this article, I'll share my experience installing Windows on my MacBook Air (2018) with Intel Core i5-8210Y processor, focusing particularly on solving two common issues: trackpad scrolling direction and keyboard layout problems.
My MacBook Specifications
My device is a MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018) with the following specifications:
- Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8210Y CPU @ 1.60GHz
- RAM: 8GB
Driver Installation
For Windows driver installation on a Mac, you can download the appropriate drivers from the official Apple support page: Boot Camp drivers for Windows.
Note: I'll skip the detailed Windows installation process in this article as it's well documented elsewhere.
Problem 1: Inverted Trackpad Scrolling Direction
After installing Windows, the first issue you'll likely notice is that the trackpad scrolling direction is reversed compared to macOS. This can be quite disorienting if you frequently switch between the two operating systems.
Solution:
You can adjust the trackpad scrolling direction by referring to these resources:

Problem 2: Swapped Caps Lock and Control Keys
The second major issue is that the Caps Lock and Control keys are reversed in Windows compared to their positions in macOS. This can severely impact your typing efficiency and muscle memory.
Failed Solutions:
I tried several approaches including:
Modifying system settings
Editing the registry
Using Microsoft PowerToys
Unfortunately, none of these methods worked perfectly for my setup.
Successful Solution:
The tool that finally resolved this issue completely was SharpKeys. This lightweight, open-source application allows you to remap any key on your keyboard and worked perfectly for solving this problem.
