私が前回 TOEIC 受けたのはもう 20 年くらい前の話なので、参考にならなかったら本当すみません。

0. TOEIC に私たちは何を試されているのか？
1) 英語を素早く処理する力
- リスニング 100 問、リーディング 100 問を解く
(36 秒に 1 問のペースで解くペース！考えてるひまや母国語に置き換えて理解しようとするひまなど無い。)
2) ビジネス文脈を理解する力
出題シナリオ例:
- 会議
- 出張
- 人事
- 営業
- マーケティング
- メール
- 契約
- 顧客対応
など
3) 推測力
会議室変更のお知らせという英文を読んだとき、誰が送ったのか、何が変わったのか、参加者は何をすべきかなど、文脈から推測する必要がある。
「知らない単語があっても全体を理解する力」 が問われる。
4) 集中力と持久力
試験時間は約 2 時間。
(ご飯しっかり食べてこ。プロテイン！)
TOEIC であまり試されないもの
- 発音
- 英会話力
- ディスカッション能力
- プレゼン力
- 英作文力
(これらは Speaking & Writing の範疇)
1. TOEFL との違いは？
TOEFL は「アカデミック英語力」。
TOEFL で試されるのは、
- 大学の講義を聞く
- 論文を読む
- レポートを書く
- 自分の意見を論理的に述べる
TOEFL 設問例)
- 気候変動の原因を説明しなさい
- 生物学の講義を聞いて要約しなさい
テストの目的が異なる。
- TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language (学校で学ぶための英語力)
- TOEIC: Test of English for International Communication (会社で働くための英語力)
2. TOEIC スコア別に見ると
- 600 点: 基本的な英文を処理できる
- 730 点: 仕事で最低限困らない
- 860 点: かなり高度なビジネス英語を理解できる
- 900 点以上: 英語をかなり自動処理できる状態
というイメージ。
TOEIC は、「知っている英語」を測る試験ではなく、「英語で仕事を処理する能力」を測る試験
TOEIC で最も伸びる人は「単語力」よりも 英語を大量に速く読む・聞く習慣を作った人です。

3. 本題 !! Copilot で TOEIC 対策してみよう
では、そんな試験対策を Copilot でどうやるか。標準版でも有償版でも無課金版でも Chat でやってもいいし、M365 ならエージェント作成してもいい。
対策その 1) "TOEIC Coach" を作成して鍛錬してもらう
自分に合った専属コーチを作成して鍛える。

Every day:
1. Give me 5 TOEIC vocabulary words
2. Give me 3 Part 5 questions
3. Give me 1 Part 7 passage
4. Give me 1 speaking question
5. Keep track of my weak areas
6. Explain everything in both English and Japanese
対策その 2) Study Plan を作ってもらう
試験日から逆算して計画する。
My current TOEIC score is 650.
My target score is 800.
I can study 30 minutes per day.
Create a 12-week study plan.
対策その 3) Reading Speed Training をしてもらう
早読み練習する。目で追って処理できるようにしておく。読み方わからない単語は読み上げ機能使ってもいいわね。
Create a TOEIC Part 7 reading passage.
Length: 250 words
Topic: business email
Then ask 5 TOEIC-style questions.
Do not show the answers until I finish.
対策その 4) Listening Support をしてもらう
Copilot ボイスを使ってアクセントやってもらう。
TOEIC って色んな国のアクセントが出てくるから、トリッキーな国のアクセントと言い回しに耳を慣らせておく。

アイルランド英語、インド英語、シンガポール英語、フィリピン英語、南アフリカ英語はたぶんそんな出ない。
注: 日本語でも漢字の読み間違いみたいな発音間違いあるように、平気でアクセントや読み方間違ってくるときもあるので注意。
対策その 5) シナリオ想像力アップ練習
Copilot に文章作成 & 読み上げしてもらって、キーワードをつかんで即座にシナリオが想像できるようにしておく。
よくあるシナリオ
- Airport announcement
- Railway announcement
- Automated message
シナリオを瞬時に判断する必要がある。
例えば…
"Good morning everyone" (Company internal announcement?)
"This is to inform passengers..." (Announcement at some transportation?)

Randomly choose a scenario each time.

After I answer, briefly explain:

What I did well in my guess
Expressions I should learn to recognize instantly when listening
Then, automatically give me the next question without asking whether I am ready.
Keep the difficulty around TOEIC 700–850 level.
対策その 6) 言い換えを判断する練習
TOEIC では、よく言い換えてくるから、類義語も抑えておきたい！Copilot で類義語について特訓してもらおう。
"The meeting has been postponed..." (The event will take place at a later date.)

- attend ↔ participate
- shipment ↔ delivery

I want to improve my ability to recognize paraphrases quickly in TOEIC Part 3 and Part 4.

Use common TOEIC situations, such as:

- Restaurants
- Deliveries and shipments
- Customer service

- Sales and promotions

- Equipment or facility problems
My task:
Rewrite the sentence using different words while keeping the same meaning.
Example:
You:
"The meeting has been postponed until Friday."
Me:
"The meeting has been delayed until Friday."
After I answer:
1. Tell me whether my paraphrase is correct.
2. Give me 2–3 natural TOEIC-style paraphrases.
3. Highlight the key paraphrase pair.
Example:

reschedule ↔ move to another time
4. Show me how the same idea could appear in a TOEIC question or answer choice.
5. Briefly explain any useful vocabulary or expressions.
Important:
- Do NOT show the answer before I respond.
- Give me only ONE question at a time.
- Use different scenarios randomly.
- Focus on paraphrases commonly used in TOEIC.
- Gradually make the paraphrases more difficult.
- Keep your explanations in English.

対策その 7) イラスト系問題対策
Copilot にイラスト作成させてもいいわね。雑誌、新聞紙、ネット広告、チラシなどのイラスト系問題は、なんかめちゃ出た気がする。シチュエーションを目に慣れさせておきましょう。

最後に
で、20 年前に受けた最初で最後の TOEIC スコアはリスニング満点 リーディング 15 点マイナスの 975 点でした。(問題数多いことわかってなくて、リーディング丁寧にやりすぎて時間内に終えられなかった)
私はどう準備したかって言うと、前日からテスト直前までひたすらいろんな英語の映画を見たり、移動中は英語の歌を聞き続け、英語脳にして試験に臨みました。
…文法狂の方々すみません。文法よりもきっともっと大切なことがあって、文法はほぼあきらめてます。でもきっとここに書かれてるポイント抑えたら、TOEIC だけでなく、実践でもとっても使えそうな気がするからぜひ参考にしてみてネ～😇。
