MySQLを起動する際のERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

#エラー内容
MySQLを起動させようと思い、以下のコマンドを入力しパスワードを打ち込むとエラーが・・・

$mysql -u root -p
Enter password: 

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

パスワードは間違っていないはず・・・。

#解決方法
起動する際に最初に以下コマンドを打ち込むのを失念していました。
凡ミスですね。

$mysql.server start
Starting MySQL
. SUCCESS! 

再度トライ！

$mysql -u root -p
Enter password: 
Welcome to the MySQL monitor.  Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 2
Server version: 5.7.32 Homebrew

無事起動できました！
