Grad-CAMで転移学習したResNet101の中身を可視化する(Pytorch実装)

業務で医療画像を分類していた際に、NNWの中身を分析する機会があり、
Grad-CAM を Pytorch で実装したため紹介する。意外とPytorchの実装が出回っていなかったため(Kerasが多い)

(0) Grad-CAN とは何か

理論の説明は以下の記事を参考にするとよい。
一言で行ってしまえは、勾配が大きく変化する場所に着目することで
クラス分類に大きな影響を与えている箇所を特定するという理論だ。

メリットはやはり特別にCAMのようにFeed Back用のネットワークで学習しなくてもよいことだと思う。
したがって学習とは切り離して考えることができる。

(1) ResNet101で転移学習

今回学習に用いたデータセットはKaggleのもので
Kaggleからデータセットをダウンロードする必要がある。

とても深い層のネットワークのだが、どのモデルでもやることは同じ。
最後のCov層(med-layerとする)の出力を取り出し、出力との勾配を計算する。

上述だと割りづらいので着目するmed-layerにズームしてみる。

方針は
上記の (2)Bottleneckの(cov3)の出力を
output = model(img)
として順伝搬した際に取り出せるように(2)Bottleneck層(list(model.children())[7][2]を改造する。

以下が改造前のBttleneck層
Pytorchであれば、torchvision/models/resnet.pyの中に記されている
正確なパスは環境によって異なるが、エディタの定義に移動などで
かんたんに移動できる。

細かい話なので気にならない方はとばしてよい。

なぜMy_Bottleneckの引数が(2048, 512)なのかは
実際のBottleneckのinpanesが(conv1)の第一引数に対応していることから導けた。
512という値はplanesという引数だが、resnet.pyのResNet クラス定義の、
_make_layerという関数の引数であると逆算でき、これはself.layer4 = self._make_layer.......
と対応していることから導けた。

あとがき

どうでもよいが、
実際の業務ではもっと煩雑なコードをかいてしまった。
cnn-finetuneでresnet101を引っ張ってきたため、
ResNetWrapperという複雑な構造に変換されていたことが原因。
cnn-finetuneで転移学習することはあまりおすすめしない。

扱いがやや複雑となった。

Guided Grad-CAM/Grad-CAM ++ などを実装する機会があれば、
紹介しようと思う。
