PostgreSQLのvarcharの最大文字数について

ゲシュタルト崩壊したのでまとめる。

結論

テーブルスキーマ作成時に最大バイト数 n (n <= 65535)を指定する。

varchar(n)

n バイト まで入る。つまり、

  • 最大64KBを占有することになる
  • 1バイト文字なら、最大で65535文字収納可能。
