One thing that has changed in my AI video workflow is how I think about duration.
With shorter generations, I usually treated every clip as a separate shot. I would generate several small pieces, export them, and then try to build the actual story inside an editor.
That works, but it creates another problem: every new generation introduces another opportunity for the character, lighting, environment, or visual style to change.
With Seedance 2.5 supporting longer single generations, I've started approaching the process differently.
Instead of thinking in individual clips, I plan the entire scene first.

What Changed in My Workflow?
My old workflow looked something like this:
Prompt → Short Clip → New Prompt → Another Clip → Edit Everything Together
The new approach is closer to:
Idea → Scene Structure → References → Motion Plan → Generation → Refinement
That might sound like a small difference, but it changes how I write prompts.
I'm no longer asking the model to create one isolated visual moment.
I'm giving it a sequence.
My 30-Second Workflow
Step 1 — Break the Idea into Story Beats
Before opening the generator, I divide the scene into several simple moments.
For example, imagine I'm creating a short coffee advertisement.
My scene plan might be:
0–5 seconds
Establish the coffee shop.
5–12 seconds
The camera moves toward a cup of coffee on the counter.
12–20 seconds
A person picks up the cup while steam rises.
20–26 seconds
The camera follows the cup toward the window.
26–30 seconds
Final product-focused shot.
This gives me a basic timeline before I write the actual prompt.
Step 2 — Prepare the References
Next, I collect the visual materials I want to keep consistent.
For this example, I might prepare:
- Product image
- Coffee shop interior
- Character reference
- Lighting reference
- Color/style reference
The goal is not to provide as many references as possible.
Every reference should have a clear job.
For example:
Reference 1: Product appearance
Reference 2: Character
Reference 3: Environment
Reference 4: Lighting and mood
This makes the workflow much easier to manage.
Step 3 — Turn the Timeline into a Prompt
Now I convert the scene plan into a structured prompt.
For example:
A cinematic coffee commercial inside a warm modern café.
0–5s:
Wide establishing shot of the café.
Warm morning sunlight enters through the windows.
5–12s:
The camera slowly moves toward a ceramic coffee cup on the counter.
Steam rises naturally from the drink.
12–20s:
A woman reaches for the cup and gently picks it up.
Keep her appearance consistent with the character reference.
20–26s:
The camera follows her toward the window.
Natural body movement and realistic pacing.
26–30s:
Close-up product shot of the coffee cup beside the window.
Soft sunlight, shallow depth of field, calm premium atmosphere.
This is the point where I use Seedance 2.5 to turn the scene plan and references into a complete generation.
Instead of relying on one long paragraph, I'm giving each part of the video a specific purpose.
Step 4 — Review the Story, Not Just the Frames
When the generation finishes, I don't immediately look for tiny visual imperfections.
First, I watch the complete video.
I ask:
- Does the opening establish the scene?
- Does the camera move logically?
- Does the action progress naturally?
- Does the character remain recognizable?
- Does the product stay visually consistent?
- Does the final shot feel like an ending?
This is important because a technically beautiful frame doesn't necessarily make a good video.
The sequence needs to work as a whole.
Step 5 — Identify the Weakest Moment
If most of the video works, I don't want to throw everything away because of one problem.
Instead, I identify exactly what needs improvement.
For example:
Problem: The product looks wrong.
Then I focus on the product reference or that part of the instruction.
Problem: The transition happens too quickly.
Then I adjust the timing.
Problem: Character motion looks unnatural.
Then I simplify the action description.
This is much more efficient than completely rewriting the prompt every time.
Step 6 — Create Platform Variations
Once the main scene works, I think about distribution.
The same concept can be adapted for:
- YouTube Shorts
- TikTok
- Instagram Reels
- Product landing pages
- Paid social ads
Instead of inventing an entirely new campaign for every platform, I can reuse the same visual concept and adapt the framing, pacing, captions, or ending.
Where I Think This Workflow Works Best
Product Advertising
A 30-second structure gives enough time to establish a product, demonstrate it, and finish with a clear hero shot.
Short Storytelling
Creators can plan a beginning, development, and ending instead of generating disconnected visual moments.
Brand Content
References can establish the visual identity while the prompt controls how the scene develops.
Social Media Campaigns
One core idea can become several versions with different openings, pacing, or final shots.
Pre-Visualization
A complete scene can be explored before investing in traditional filming or animation.
Why Longer Generation Changes Prompt Writing
For me, this is probably the most interesting part.
A five-second prompt can describe a moment.
A longer generation needs to describe progression.
That means I have to think more about:
- Timing
- Camera direction
- Character actions
- Transitions
- Visual continuity
- Beginning and ending states
In other words, prompt writing starts becoming closer to scene direction.
And I think that's a useful shift.
Instead of trying to add more adjectives to a prompt, I'm spending more time thinking about what should actually happen on screen.
Final Thoughts
Seedance 2.5 hasn't changed one basic rule of AI video creation: preparation still matters.
What has changed for me is what I'm preparing.
I'm no longer thinking only about the first frame or the first few seconds.
I'm thinking about the complete scene.
Breaking an idea into timed story beats, assigning clear roles to reference assets, and reviewing the final output as a sequence has made my workflow much more structured.
For creators experimenting with longer AI video generation, I think that's a better place to start than simply writing a longer prompt.
