So, a new messaging app by Instagram makes buzzworthy noise. 'Threads' is a new camera-first messaging app that helps you stay connected to your close friends. It is developed to let everyone stay connected to their close friends on a daily basis. Let us see some features of this new application.

With rapid-fire camera and text messaging with your best friends feature, Facebook and Instagram is planning a tug of war against photo-sharing giants like Snapchat, who has quite a following and also bring some more focus on personalized experience to its users with interesting ways to post status.

Keep Your Friends Closer:

Only last year Instagram introduced close friends feature on the platform, which allowed users to share their private moments and pictures to the group of selected people that were pre-defined by the users themselves.

This feature was highly successful and brought more users to Instagram. Instagram had shelved work on a direct messaging app callind Direct. Instagram had been developing Direct since 2017, but the company said that during testing they found that users did not like switching to another app every time they wanted to send a message.

This year they have integrated the same in a messaging application called 'Threads', Now you can use Threads to message those people on your Instagram close friends list and you’ll have a dedicated inbox and notifications just for them.

If you don’t have a list set up yet, you can make one directly from Threads when you download the app. This application is an associated application of Instagram and hence it will not have any trouble gaining the audience it needs to flourish.

Facebook already has WhatsApp and it has been an efficient messaging application, but, as it has been a totally different platform together, with a status sharing feature in WhatsApp, Facebook was somewhat integrated into WhatsApp, yet it remains somewhat different, though Facebook and Instagram have been integrated and now 'Threads' is an attempt to provide a dedicated messaging app to Instagram.

Share Your Stuff:

Now you can share your pictures and videos instantly with the people you want to share it with. Threads are the fastest way to share a photo or video with your close friends on Instagram. It opens directly to the camera and allows you to add shortcuts, so you can share what you’re doing in just two taps.

Photo sharing has been already a popular medium on Instagram. According to the data on Instagram's own blog 95 million photos and videos are shared on Instagram per day. This is a huge amount for any social media platform. It is also an attractive data for advertisers and marketers to exploit.

Let there be AutoStatus:

It often happens that you are driving your way to the office, on a shopping spree, having a baby moment or any other stuff that you want to share through pictures or another medium, but your hands are full and you don't have enough time to update your status frequently.

That’s why Instagram created Autostatus feature for Threads, where You can choose from a suggested status ( Studying), create your own (Procrastinating), or turn on Auto Status ( On the move), which automatically shares little bits of context on where you are without giving away your coordinates. Only your close friends will see your status, and it’s completely opt-in.

This feature was created with a clear view of your privacy in mind and only you can control whether you want to share your status or not and with whom. For users, this Autostatus is in Off mode by default, which when turned on by users, will give Instagram, the ability to use data signals to choose an emoji for you. It will match your exact location to specific places like home, work, cafes, bars, traveling out of town and more. The accelerometer of your smartphone lets it show the specific activity you are doing.

Threads are launched on AndroidOS and iOS, both of which are very popular platforms for applications.

‘Threads’ offers a new, dedicated homepage for your favorite conversations. Messages from close friends list will appear in both Threads and Direct(Instagram), so you have full control over how and with whom you want to interact.

Closing curtains: Instagrammers have a new tool to cling on and this is safe, sound and private. in the technology world, where privacy has become a rising concern, this step by Instagram, ensures privacy control for users, with Facebook already facing the heat of privacy regulators, this will help the cause of positive mind frame among the users regarding the social media platforms it offers.
