ロクでなしiOSデベロッパーとAndroid Material Design教典

元々はiOS開発がメインなのですが
最近Kotlinにひどく魅了されハマってます
ScalaとJavaの中間ぐらいのいい感じにできてますね
ことりん、可愛い名前ですが島の名前なんですね :blush:

UdacityのチュートリアルでAndroidを勉強してたのですが
Android Material Designと言う
UIの英文に関するガイドラインを発見し
これ、Android以外にも応用が効くよねと思い
私のいい加減な解説付きでご紹介します :point_up: で表記

解釈の間違いなどありましたらコメントお願いします :smiley:

Language

Addressing users

ユーザの呼びかた

you, your を使用せよ (I, weではなくて)

:ok: Quickly open the camera without unlocking your screen
Your places

(例外) ユーザ視点で語るときはI, my を使用せよ

:ok: I agree to follow the Google Terms of Service
My Account
:x: Change your preferences in My Account

:point_up: 同じセンテンスでyouとIをごちゃ混ぜすると混乱しますからね

Avoid the pronoun “we”

weの使用は避けよ
ユーザの視点にたった表現をせよ

:x: To get you started, we’re showing you popular posts on Google+

(例外) レビューとかレスを返すなど、ユーザのために何かアクションをする場合はweを使って良い

:ok: We’ll review your appeal and respond within a few days

:point_up: 日本語と違い、英語では誰が主語か明確にします

Be concise

簡潔に

:ok: Send money to anyone in the US who has an email address. It’s fast, easy, and free.
:x: Send (and receive) money with friends and family in the US with an email address. It’s a two-step process with little-to-no latency and there aren’t any charges for the recipients of the money.

:ok: Read the instructions that came with your phone
:x: Consult the documentation that came with your phone for further instructions

:point_up: less is more 少ないは多い

Write in the present

現在形で記述せよ

:point_up: 通常、英語では現在、過去、未来、現在完了と時制を明確にします
現在形に統一することで表記の揺らぎがなくなりスッキリします
Gitのコミットメッセージも現在形に統一するのオススメです

Write simply and directly

単純、直接

:ok: Message sent
:x: Message has been sent

:ok: Register to vote
:x: You must register before you can vote

:point_up: 海外のスタバでコーヒーを注文するときも

より

と言った方が通じます
余計な単語はつけない方がポイントがはっきりして
分かりやすいです

Write for all levels of readers

英語があまり得意でない人にもわかりやすい単語を使用せよ

:point_up: Enableは一般人には特殊な単語です

:ok: Preparing video…
:x: Buffering…

ボタンとかメニューとかUI部品名は言わなくてよし

:ok: Click Continue
:x: Click the Continue button

:point_up: 押せるならそれはボタンでしょうしね

Begin with the objective

目的から書きはじめよ

:x: Drag a photo to the trash to remove it from this album

:point_up: 日本語の語順と同じになるので、日本人にはわかりやすいですね

Never say “never”

絶対って絶対言うな

:point_up: いや、そこはneverって言って欲しいですが :sweat_drops:

Tone

Be friendly, respectful, and focus on the user

友好、尊敬、ユーザ視点

控えめな表現

Great deal とは、お買い得だよ
と言うバーゲンセールで使用します
誇大広告はよくありません

:point_up: allだと全部の意味になりますのでよくありません

機能の効果を説明せよ
機能の実装方式、注意事項、制限は不要

:point_up: invitingとは招待する、招き入れるの意味です
ユーザのアプリの使用を促すような誘い文句を使用しましょう

Be positive

ポジティブな安心な表現をせよ
:point_up: 25文字以上だとやばそうな雰囲気を出さないことです
バグがあと15個あると言うより
バグを150個フィックスしたと言う方がポジティブです

:ok: Use 24 characters or fewer for file names
:x: Your file name must be less than 25 characters

松下幸之助のありがたい言葉:ear:

失敗したところでやめてしまうから失敗になる
成功するところまで続ければ、それは成功になる

Be essential

本質的なことだけ伝えよ

:point_up: 場合によってはテキストも不要
iPhoneのパスコードロック解除で失敗すると
画面が揺れて、タプティックエンジンがトコトコするだけです
ときとし、エラーメッセージは不要です

Use sentence-style caps

先頭の単語だけ大文字にせよ

Skip periods and unnecessary punctuation

余計な句読点を省略せよ

複数センテンスの場合は付ける

省略形を使用せよ

ただし、強調したいときは do notとします

Avoid exclamation points

ビックリマークの使用は避けよ
(例外) 挨拶や、謝辞は良いよ

数字は数値で表記せよ

:point_up: ちなみに書籍などのフォーマルな文章では逆にスペルで表記します
