Oracle Cloud Infrastructure CLI用のfish補完を作ってみた

はじめに

Oracle Cloud には、Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (略してOCI) とよばれる IaaS サービスが存在しています。仮想インスタンスを始めとしたさまざまなIaaSサービスを提供しています。
OCIサービスをCLI上で操作する oci-cli には、tabキーによる補完がbashしか動作しなかったり、補完処理が遅いという問題があります。(2秒くらいかかる。地味にストレス)
これを改善するために、fish-oci-completions を作りました。
補完が一瞬で表示されるため、ストレスフリーで作業ができます。
自分はfish使いなので、fishで動作する用途で作っています。bashでは動かないので注意です。

bashでの補完の挙動を解析して、fish側へ移植した作業のメモを残します。

bash側 コマンドの補完解析

oci コマンドを実行時に、特定の変数を設定して実行すると、サブコマンドを補完した結果を返してくれる動作になっている

要点は以下の通り

• tabキーで保管を呼び出したときに、envコマンドで変数を設定したのちに oci コマンドで補完候補の文字列を取得する。
• COMPREPLY変数に補完後のコマンド文字列を格納するより、complete がターミナルを補完してくれる。

• complete -F _oci_completion -o default oci; の定義により、ociコマンドをtabキーで補完すると、_oci_completion()関数が呼び出される
• complete コマンドによって呼び出される _oci_completion() 関数には、COMP_WORDS とCOMP_CWORDが引数として渡される
  • COMP_WORDS : tabキーで保管を呼び出したときの、コマンドの文字列。（例）oci compute bo
  • COMP_CWORD : tabキーで保管を呼び出したときの、補完したいサブコマンドの位置。（例） 2

fishで補完をやってみた

かなり遅いけど動作はできる

詳細は省略しますが、fish の complete から oci コマンドを呼び出して補完を出来るようにしました。

が、めちゃくちゃ遅くて、とても使える速度ではなかったです。

bash側で実装されている既存の仕組みを流用することにより、fish側はメンテナンスが基本的に不要になるメリットがありますが、あまりの遅さに却下。
