業務で Docker Desktop のライセンス費用が高くなってきたので Lima に乗り換えるという話があった
それに伴って何を設定したのかをメモします

セットアップ手順

Step 1: Homebrew インストール

これはもうみんな使っているので大丈夫だと思いますが、念のためセットアップコマンド置いておきます
インターネット上には先人たちの知恵がたくさん転がっているので、困ったら Copilot とか Google 先生に訊くのが良きなので、細かい話は省きます

Step 2: Lima インストール＆セットアップ

インストールコマンドとバージョン確認は以下の通り

$ brew install lima
$ limactl -v
limactl version 1.0.1
$

Linux VM をセットアップして Lima で Docker を実行
~/develop ディレクトリは任意の箇所に設定しているだけなので、自由に配置は変えてください

# Create a folder
$ mkdir ~/develop

# Download VM settings
$ curl -o ~/develop/docker.yaml https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lima-vm/lima/master/examples/docker.yaml

# Start VM
$ limactl start ~/develop/docker.yaml
$ limactl list

# Test logging in into the VM
$ limactl shell docker

# Also install qemu in the VM(NOT host machine) if you're using arm64
lima@lima-docker$ sudo apt-get update && apt install qemu-user-static

Step 3: docker インストール

ローカルマシンに docker をインストール

# Install docker
$ brew install docker

# set environment variable DOCKER_HOST, change .zshrc to other rc file accordingly
$ echo 'export DOCKER_HOST=$(limactl list docker --format "unix://{{.Dir}}/sock/docker.sock")' >> .zshrc
$ source .zshrc

lima に入ってテスト実行を行う

# Jump into Lima
$ lima

# Test execution
$ docker run --rm hello-world

テスト実行結果は以下の通り

Step 4: `docker-compose` インストール

lima に入ったまま作業

# make new directory to download files

Step 5: `docker-credential-helper` インストール

ローカルで作業

$ brew install docker-credential-helper

Step 6: `docker-buildx` インストール

lima に入ったまま作業

Makefile を使いたい場合は lima で入って以下のコマンドでインストールしないと使えません
