新gTLDのwhoisサーバを調べるには

も少し細かく説明

新 gTLD の whois サーバがどこかという情報は、IANAのデータベースに記載されています。
たとえば、.moe の whois サーバの情報は、.moe のページの「Registry Information」という箇所に記載されています。これが分かれば、jwhois コマンドでも以下のように問い合わせ先サーバを指定することで

$ jwhois -h whois.nic.moe nic.moe
[Querying whois.nic.moe]
[whois.nic.moe]

まぁ、一部 gTLD はなぜか whois サーバの情報が無くて、ググってあちこち見たりして調べる必要があるんですが...。
