先に、ロボットのハードウェアにもオープンソースの流れがあるを書いた。

思った以上に、ロボットの分野でも、オープンソースの流れが大きくなりつつあるようだ。

Transformer系のモデルが多数あるサイトHuggingFaceで、ロボットのライブラリが公開されていた。

なぜオープンソースが必要なのか

どこか特定の組織がロボットの技術を排他的に支配することがないこと。
有用な改良が特定のライブラリにしか反映されず、たくさんの車輪の再発明を生み出してしまうこと。
その結果、個々の組織が実装するコードがそれぞれに不十分なものになってしまうこと。
ロボットで使用する基板・OS・フレームワーク・ライブラリのいずれからEOLになることで、どんなにすごいものであっても、そのロボットがEOLになってしまう。
商用のロボットであってもオープンソース化する部分を多くもたなくちゃらない時代がきたと思っている。
