「技術的負債」にという言葉について、その概念の生みの親であるWard Cunninghamが語った内容をt-wadaさんが翻訳されていたのでメモ

面白いと思った点

  • 負債（Debt）というメタファーは、開発中の金融系ソフトウェア（TDD本にも出てくるWyCash）について上司に説明するため、その業界の用語を使った
  • Ward Cunninghamとしては、行き当たりばったりなソフトウェアアーキテクチャや、雑なコードのことを指していたわけではない
  • 借金してギャンブルにつぎ込むような行き当たりばったりなイメージではなく、資金調達して事業を素早く立ち上げ、そこで得られた利益で返済するという計画的なイメージであったこと
  • 得られた利益で借金の返済を行わないと、最後は利子で首が回らなくなることを、ソフトウェアをリリースして得た学びをソフトウェアに反映していかないリスクのメタファーとしていたこと
