vSS（vSphere Standard Switch）とvDS（vSphere Distributed Switch）の違いについて

  • vSphere Enterprise plus エディションより提供

  • vSSはESXi上に構成される、vDSは複数のESXiを跨がって構成される

  • ESXi上に跨がって構成されることからvSSではそれぞれに構成していたものが一度構成すればよくなることも特長

  • NIOC(Network I/O control)を提供

  • VXLANを使用したネットワーク仮想化ができる

※VXLANとはVirtual eXtensible Local Area Networkのことで、レイヤ２を維持したまま物理インフラを跨いだ通信にIPが利用できる（オーバレイネットワーク）
