Chromium(Blink)のソースを見てみるとPoseSensorVRDeviceという新たなクラス関連のファイルが追加されています。

PositionSensorVRDevice.idlを見てみるとコメントに
PositionSensorVRDevice is deprecated, and defined here to provide some backwards compatibility for an older version of WebVR. Should be removed at a future date
と書かれており、PositionSensorVRDeviceクラスは今後廃止されるようです。
そして、新たにPoseSensorVRDeviceクラスが追加されています。

An PositionSensorVRDevice represents a user interface that provides an orientation and position in space. This may be a Head Mounted Display or any number of other six-degree-of-freedom devices that provide, for example, hand tracking.
英語苦手なのでなんて書いてあるかわからないのですが、最後に、for example, hand tracking.と書かれているように、ハンドトラッキングなどをサポートするっぽい？
英語話せないのに、無謀にもSlackで質問したら、@tojiroさんから、
I sent out a proposal to the WebVR-discuss mailing list to update the verbiage from Position to Pose, because Position only describes part of what the object reports.
The proposal was generally well received, so I made the change in the code to ensure it will go smoothly, but I'm kinda waiting for Mozilla to comment before I commit to it.
という返事をいただきました。
googleで翻訳してみると、Positionという名前が、特定の(つまりはPosition)ものを指してしまっているので、もっと広い意味を持つPoseにかえようという提案をMLで出したら好評を得たので、実装したということなんだそうです。(訳間違っていたらどうか指摘してください)
ただ、今のところWebVRのスペックページはこのことに関する修正がありません。
コメントをいただき、現在、修正作業を行っている最中だそうです。教えていただいたリンクをみると、PRを出していました。
