cowsayコマンドで\n\nとしたら改行できた

hogeとfugaの間に改行を入れたい．

これだとできない

printf "hoge\nfuga" | cowsay

結果

 ___________
< hoge fuga >
 -----------
        \   ^__^
         \  (oo)\_______
            (__)\       )\/\
                ||----w |
                ||     ||

改行2つ入れたらできた．仕様なの？

printf "hoge\n\nfuga" | cowsay

結果

/ hoge \

\ fuga /
 ------
        \   ^__^
         \  (oo)\_______
            (__)\       )\/\

                ||     ||
