結論

オプションにvers=2.0を追加する。

mount -t cifs //192.168.xxx.xxx/XXXX /mnt/XXXX -o username=XXXX,password=XXXX,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777,vers=2.0,iocharset=utf8

/etc/fstab 記載例
domain=XXXXも動作した。

//192.168.xxx.xxx/XXXX /mnt/XXXX cifs username=XXXX,password=XXXX,domain=XXXX,iocharset=utf8,vers=2.0,defaults 0 0

使用したLinkStation

LS210D (LS210D3FF) Version 1.70-0.01

古い機種のためvers=2.0が必要で、新しい機種は不要なのかもしれない。
