You can also just delete all the child records in your org and then try creating the master-detail relationship.

• You cannot create a new Master-Detail relationship on an existing custom object if records already exist. You must first create a Lookup relationship, populate the lookup field with data in all records, and then change the relationship type to Master-Detail

• First create a lookup relationship
• Populate the relationship field value for all the records
• Convert lookup to mater detail.

Simply delete all the records if you don't need them and directly create the Master Detail Relationship field.
