I should have thought to try another browser. I was using Chrome, but Safari came through. Thank you!
Which browser are you using?
Can you please try in other browser.
The issue is solved by using the chrome as the browser. Previously I used Edge and as I shifted from edge to Chrome it worked.

there was an error deploying the metadata.
- I thought the Administrator Certification for Spring '21 trailhead would be just an easy 20 minutes - wrong!
- Create object from spreadsheet giving metadata error
I was able to resolve the problem: we cannot have more than 12 "Text Area (Long)" fields.
I was importing:
- 2 Date fields
- 8 Phone fields
- 8 Url fields
- 2 Email fields
- 47 Text fields
- 114 Text Area (Long) fields.
It was not working. I had the "There was an error deploying the metadata" error. After many many trials and errors, I was able to isolate that we cannot import more than 12 "Text Area (Long)" fields. My solution was to change their file type for "Text Area".
After the modification I was able to import my 179 fields like a charm.
For a more technical explanation you can look at this image when I have tried to do a modification after the import:

Hello! I keep getting an error. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong. Please help. Thank you!
I was having the same problem.
It gives you those 3 options for 0.5 seconds and then the webpage redirects to another page where you can't do anything.
To fix this, I opened an incognito tab and logged in to SF from there, hoping that this would strip my Chrome browser of any extras (extensions, etc.) I have in my Chrome settings. It did the trick! Hoping the same works for you.
