I've done this before by using the Related List Filters feature on my lightning record page for records that have a direct relationship.
Within your cases tab on your lightning record page, drop the Related List - Single component to your page and select 'Use This Opportunity' for the Parent Record and set the 'Related List' to Cases. You can also give your list a label, set the type, number of records to display, fields you want to appear, and sort order. Lastly, you can use the 'Related List Filters' to create those filter option you want to only show specific cases. This should filter the list of records that appear to achieve your use case.
