入力電圧 V_I = V_{BE} が増加するとベース電流 I_B が増加するので、コレクタ電流 I_C が h_{FE} x I_B だけ増加します。この結果、負荷抵抗 R_L での電圧降下が増大するので、電源 V_CC を基準電位として、出力 V_O は矢印の方向に大きく変化します。

入力の変化方向と出力の変化方向(極性)が逆ですので、エミッタ接地増幅器は反転増幅器です。
