.vimrcが機能しない
vimのカスタマイズをする時に.vimrcを編集せよという記事がありますが、実際に.vimrcで設定するとうまく機能しない事があります。
この場合は.vimrcではなく.vircとなっている可能性があります。
特にAlmalinuxを標準インストールした時は.vircとなっています。
これはvi --versionまたはvim --versionコマンドを実行する事で確認する事ができます。
$ vi --version

vimrc fileで指定されているのが正しい設定ファイルになるので、それに合わせる事で機能します。
