ubuntu 14.04 + CUDA

More than 3 years have passed since last update.
  • downgrade kernel to 3.13
sudo apt-get install linux-generic
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo reboot
  • select old kernel at GRUB Option and boot ubuntu

  • delete new kernel

sudo aptitude remove --purge linux-headers-4.4.0-36 linux-headers-4.4.0-36-generic linux-image-4.4.0-36-generic linux-image-extra-4.4.0-36-generic linux-signed-image-4.4.0-36-generic
sudo reboot
  • downgrade X server
sudo aptitude install xserver-xorg-core-lts-wily
sudo reboot
  • install cuda
wget http://developer.download.nvidia.com/compute/cuda/7.5/Prod/local_installers/cuda_7.5.18_linux.run
chmod +x cuda_7.5.18_linux.run
sudo sh cuda_7.5.18_linux.run
  • install gnome-session
sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback
  • reboot

change login session to GNOME
