nginxをソースからDebianにインストールした時のメモ

ほぼDebian 7 Wheezy - Web サーバ Nginx をインストール(ソースビルド)!のままだけど、一応自分なりにまとめておく。

ソースの取得

nginxのダウンロードページから安定版のソースへのURLをコピーして、対象のホストで取得。

(今回は1.6.3)

$ wget http://nginx.org/download/nginx-1.6.3.tar.gz

ダウンロードしたら解凍してカレントディレクトリを移動。

$ tar xvzf nginx-1.6.3.tar.gz
$ cd nginx-1.6.3

ビルド

今後のバージョンアップ時にいつでも一つ前に戻せるように、現在インストールされているものを上書きするのではなく/usr/local/nginx/<バージョン番号> にインストールします。
起動時に問題が発生したら起動するバージョンを一つ前に戻せば起動するはず...という算段。

まあイミュータブルインフラストラクチャが浸透しつつある現在では古い考え方ですが。

設定

設定ファイルは/usr/local/nginx/<バージョン番号>/conf以下にある。
もし現行使用しているものをそのまま使いたい場合は、このデフォルト設定ファイルを対比してシンボリックリンクを貼れば良い。

起動スクリプト

以下のような起動スクリプトを用意
