きっかけ
inherited_resourcesを導入して、scaffoldで生成したspecの中、POST create invalidとPUT update invalidとupdateのケースがエラーになったので、調べてみました
環境
- Rails 4.1.4
- Ruby 2.1.2

エラーの原因

inherited_resourcesはrespond_withメソッドを活用している -
respond_withはResponderのcall⇒to_html⇒navigation_behaviorの順んで呼び出される

- エラーがあるかどうかの判定は、
resource.errors.empty?で判定している - そして、
specの中は、Journal.any_instance.stub(:save).and_return(false)のようにstubでエラーにさせようとしているが、上記の判定条件に引っかからない為、最後のredirect_to navigation_locationに至ってしまう流れです。
3の原因

inherited_resourcesはまだupdate_attributesを使っているので、それに合わせれば良い
対応方法

specのstubをやめて、自分のプロジェクトのロジックをみてちゃんとinvalidのパラメータを渡せばよい - うちの場合、
Journalのtitleが必須入力なのんで、titleをnilに渡すように修正すれば、全specパスできました。
